PSY 370 (Introduction to Clinical Psychology) which involves a three-hour-a-week placement working with patients at Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center in Brentwood needs to have a screening interview with Professor Paul Ginnetty in order to be considered for enrollment in this particular course. There are only six openings each semester—the limit set by Pilgrim.

Interested students should sign up for an interview appointment on the list of available office hour times posted on the door of Dr. Ginnetty (E-113) on or before Thursday, October 20^th. Students who have interviewed for this course in the past, must, nevertheless, be briefly re-interviewed to be considered for the Spring 2023 placement. 

Requirements: Applicants must be Psychology majors who will have completed PSY 271 (Abnormal Psychology) prior to the Spring 2023 semester, and they should also have a GPA of at least 3.0. They must also be free Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the spring, Tuesdays from 8:00-9:35 for class here and Thursdays from 9:00 to noon to be at Pilgrim. Finally, they must have had this season’s flu shot before beginning the placement. (Anyone who has a medical reason that would prevent them from getting a flu shot would not be able to apply. Our hosts at Pilgrim are adamant about his point, especially since the onset of COVID situation.)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Research Assistant will work closely with the Research Scientist and members of the Wellbridge leadership team to implement Center for Addiction Science activities. They will be responsible for direct execution of research and related activities on the Wellbridge Residential Campus, focusing on patient tracking and assessment, data management, and assisting with implementation of all research protocols. The Research Assistant will also work closely with clinical and research teams to assist the Research Scientist in creating a high level of coordination between clinical and research functions. There will be opportunities for the Research Assistant to assist the Research Scientist with preparing publishing and presenting project findings. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Core responsibilities include: 

1. Works under the supervision of Research Scientist to execute research protocols, including data collection, quality control, data management, and report writing.
2. Summarizes and provides results of comprehensive assessments to the clinical team.
3. Assist Wellbridge scientific team in execution of the Center for Addiction Science’s mission and activities in a manner that is aligned with Wellbridge’s vision and goals.

1. Assist with clinical groups, time permitting and dependent on level of training, as a strategy to enhance the integration of clinical and research functions.
2. Presentation and writing of scientific findings.
3. Assisting with preparation of grant applications.
4. Community research outreach via in-person and social media techniques.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Psychology or related major (e.g., Neuroscience, Sociology, etc.). MA/MS degree in Clinical, Counseling Psychology, or Social Work preferred.
• 2 years of related work/training experience (human research experience in substance use disorders preferred).
• Assessment and interview skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. 
• Ability to work proactively and independently.
• Accept supervision and feedback from supervisors.

The Hamilton Lab directed by Dr. Jessica L. Hamilton in the Department of Psychology at Rutgers University is hiring a Research Coordinator/Assistant to join us starting Summer 2021!  The Hamilton Lab conducts research on adolescent suicidal thoughts and self-harming behaviors, with a focus on the risk and protective roles of social media use and sleep. The position will primarily support a NIMH-funded study using innovative ambulatory methods to investigate social media and sleep disruption in adolescent suicide risk. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in every stage of the research process, including initiation and implementation of new research protocols, collecting, managing and analyzing data, as well as overseeing daily laboratory activities and supervising undergraduates. The candidate will be joining the lab in its inaugural year, and we are seeking applicants who are organized, creative, excellent at problem-solving, excited to contribute to and build the lab culture, and passionate about conducting research that impacts the community. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to gain research and clinical experience prior to graduate study in clinical psychology or related programs.
